Transportation Professional of the Year Recipients
MEETINGS
The Club meets monthly except for July and August, when a golf tournament and Mariners game take the
place of the regular meetings. Meetings are usually held the first Wednesday of the month. They begin with
a reception at 11:30 AM to give members and guests an opportunity to meet one another. Lunch is served
at 12:00, and we adjourn by 1:15 PM.
PROGRAMS
The programs at the monthly meetings usually include a speaker on some aspect of the cargo
transportation industry. Past speakers (many of national prominence) have addressed rail mergers,
regulatory issues, shippers' perspectives, shipper/carrier relations, labor and a variety of other issues that
help TCS members understand today's transportation environment.
SPECIAL EVENTS
The TCS holds a Golf Tournament in July, which includes an awards banquet.
Mariners baseball is also very popular summer event. Every year one of the monthly meetings is focused
on the Alaska trade. December's is a social affair with a charity auction which has raised over $70,000 for
the Salvation Army in the past fifteen years. We hold a joint meeting with the Transportation Club of Tacoma
in April.
MEMBERSHIP AND DUES
TCS membership is made up of transportation professionals from virtually every aspect of the industry.
Trucking, railroads, steamship lines, warehouses, brokers, consultants, stevedores, CFS's, forwarders
and shippers are all represented. Dues are $60 per year.
